What is a “Chrome Mushroom”?
“Chrome Mushroom” is an idea for development! The mushroom doesn't communicate in the same way humans do, but they have intricate ways of "talking" or exchanging information within their environment. Mushrooms are a central piece of a healthy ecosystem, and they actually facilitate resource sharing. Chrome (n.) 1800, comes from the Greek khrōma "color"; so called because it makes colorful compounds, and pulls in the idea of the colors of the world and all the people, animals, and plants who live in it. Together, Chrome Mushroom represents an ethos of development that is rooted in communication, collaboration, and difference, all in pursuit of a shared goal: a healthy ecosystem for all.

Mission, Vision, and
Values
Mission
Chrome Mushroom Philanthropy partners with community-based, community-led non-profits to create fundraising infrastructure, assist with grant management, and support clients’ missions.
Vision
We envisage a world in which everyone lives happily! It is a simple idea and yet infinitely complex. Happiness is a way of living, a way of being. Sometimes it is shared meals with family, nights spent laughing with friends, or afternoons in the park. Happiness, for us, is partially rooted in philanthropy — a “love of humankind” —and doing work that helps all people enjoy the world. That love for humankind informs both our work and the type of partners Chrome Mushroom supports.
Values
Kindness — At the heart of Chrome Mushroom, is an embodied kindness that creates warmth in our work.
Listening — It is with open ears, we seek to understand our partners and all people we meet. Through forging mutual understanding we can educate ourselves about the world, our positions in it, and actions to be taken.
Learning —We are born into this world, given a language, a relationship with a set of customs and beliefs, and a history. Those divisions exist across the world, as much as in different neighborhoods. In being active, open learners we find solidarity with individuals beyond our cultural, economic, and spiritual bubble.
Co-creation — For collective action in development to work, we must work across any and every barrier imaginable to co-create equitable programs and policies.
